Here is, as promised in Part 1, a more detailed list of the most curious highlights from Munich’s Boundcon, the bondage, fetish and BDSM trade show. Without further ado, this is what you have missed, in alphabetical order:
Axsmar
A staple of Boundcon, this artisan’s metal creations remain unsurpassed in elegance and quality. His collars especially have been (badly) copied both within the fetish industry and by famous jewelers, but nobody ever came close to match the original.
Bestfixsystems
Sometimes a ultra-specific fetishism takes a life of its own, growing into an obsession and possibly mutating into a business enterprise. This is the case of the inventor of this rigid harness intended to keep one’s legs spread no matter what, allowing free access to his or her genitals. It is ugly, it is unwieldly, and for someone it is exactly what dreams are made of. Who am I to judge?
Captured taboos
I usually don’t write about pay sites, since there are countless opportunities to enjoy whatever kink floats your boat free of charge. One sadly missing face from this year’s Boundcon was however that of Jeff Gord, the master of “ultrabondage”, who had often been the star of this expo thanks to his extremely strict and show-stopping creations. Among everything I saw, I dare to say that Jorge and Takattum, the people behind Captured taboos, are the closest to Gord’s spiritual heirs. Their intense and sometimes silly ideas did strike a chord in many attendees.
Carnificium
This is the clothing and leatherwork (collars, mostly) branch of a group of Story of O enthusiasts who try to recreate the “secret” society and events described in the seminal BDSM novel. This translates in a higher attention to details and a better quality than most kinky brands – but also to a very specific style not everyone will like.
Erotisch reisen
Possibly a sign of the declining success of the travel industry, this Austrian outfit offers several travel packages geared towards kinksters. While some ideas are fun – who wouldn’t enjoy visiting Vienna by carriage… while dressed in latex? – others fall a bit flat, but the idea sure sounds interesting for spending an unusual weekend.
Explicit numerics
Makers of an incredible modular system for building custom bondage furniture. You know you are entering the insanity zone when you discover that one optional module is a… tablet computer mount – possibly to watch television or chat while you are restrained. In fact, some mechanic components are actually designed to be remotely controlled by mobile, so everything is possible.
Inferna dreams
Ooo! Scary name! Behind it you will however find just a mother and son team building pervy teddy bears out of latex, PVC or leather. I so love when the weird gets weirder… don’t you?
Kemo
Mackintosh – in the sense of raincoats – specialists, indispensable for the mostly British community of rainwear fetishists. This cheerful vendor has somehow managed to come up with new designs year after year, displaying a remarkable skill for keeping its niche audience enthralled.
Kinky monkey
A rather standard shop – with a twist. In fact, this is the place you want to go should you ever need a strap-on dildo as big as your arm: they build custom harnesses I can’t really imagine any real world use beside the one shown in the photo. The lady (a professional British dominatrix) did have fun scaring insecure males with her giant rubber cock, though.
Nonon de Florette
Can a fetish artisan get any more French than this? The man even wears a beret, for god’s sake! Digging a little deeper you will discover this is actually a Berlin-based brand, but their (very) heavy leather collars and restraints remain true works of art.
