I have written about the burlesque shows of Russall Beattie before. Not for a particular passion for the genre itself, but because I find his Vanguard Theatre extravaganzas marvelous mutant children of pop culture and eroticism. The concept is always the same: pick a hot franchise, add high production values and a dash of cool online marketing, care about the kind of details only true fans can appreciate, and make it sexy. He previously did this with Star wars and Batman, rising to superstardom heavens in a blink. Then he made a joke on Facebook – something about the «dames of throne».
The response was so enthusiastic that the fate of his new production was sealed: aGame of thrones parody it would be – but there was a problem. Making an erotic spoof of a perfectly chaste trilogy like Lucas’ is easy… but how do you make an adult version of something which is already full of very intense sex scenes? The answer is «by taking it all up one notch, and trying to service the books fans while taking most of our leads from the television show». And the result… well, you can see it yourself just below.
