The London fire brigade released its yearly interventions report, revealing that, on average, every three days theyhave to free one citizen from handcuffs used for sex games. «I don’t know whether it’s the Fifty Shades effect, but the number of incidents involving items like handcuffs seem to have gone up» said Third Officer Dave Brown.
This figure is best understood when put in perspective with the number of non-sex related incidents: in example, it is true that nine situations involved rings stuck on penises… but in the same period there were 500 similar emergencies about rings and fingers.
However you see it, kink-related accidents are undoubtedly on the rise – especially because more and more people are jumping headfirst into BDSM and other forms of alternative sexuality worldwide. Case in point: New York hardware stores are reporting a tenfold increase in the sales of rope – especially to women.
My humble suggestion is, as always, to use your head before (and while you are) attempting new erotic practices. You could read a basic primer such as my free ebook, take a seminar or at the least ask a veteran: they made their mistakes already, so they can gain from their experience. My number one handcuffs tip, in example, is simply to keep one of their customarily two keys in your house key ring. When you’ll lose the other (and you will, trust me – usually at the most embarrassing time) there will be no panic, nor the need to call your local fire department.
