Arse Elektronika may have a snarky name, but it is in fact the best place to discover what the future of sex will be – think TED, the X-rated version. This yearly event began in 2007 as a philosophical and artistic exploration of the relationships between sex and technology, thanks to the Austrian collective monochrom. It has since grown into a complex “unconference” including lectures, art performances, tech demos and public discussion/interaction, each edition dealing with a different aspect of sexuality in an evolving society.
This year’s theme is Gamifuckation and its discontents, or what happens when games and sex collide. The San Francisco schedule include a tour of the Kink.com’s infamousArmory studios, a sex machines awards ceremony, highbrow talks like Procedural representations of sex and An ontological exploration of masturbation, technology and subjecthood, and workshops with interesting titles like Bikini Beach zombie massacreor Awkward Sex Game demo.
If you are half the geek I am, you know you want to be there already.
